About CAF
The CEPT Advisory Foundation (CAF) is a Section 8, non-profit company promoted by CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Established in 2023, CAF brings together decades of CEPT University’s experience in research, advisory, and capacity building to deliver impactful solutions for India’s urban and regional challenges.
CEPT University, founded in 1962, is a premier national institution dedicated to planning, designing, constructing, and managing human habitats. Recognised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, as a Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design, CEPT has consistently contributed to advancing knowledge and practice in the built environment.

Our Legacy
CEPT University has over four decades of experience in consultancy, research, and advisory services. Its work spans disaster relief and rehabilitation following the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, preparation of the nomination dossier that led to Ahmedabad’s inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage City in 2017, and numerous initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in towns and cities across India.
To manage its growing portfolio of advisory and research engagements, CEPT University established the CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) in 2013 as a wholly owned Section 8 company. CAF was subsequently formed to further streamline and expand advisory services under a dedicated institutional framework.

Partnerships and Clients
CAF works closely with central, state, and local governments, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, philanthropic organisations, and industry partners. It has supported states including Sikkim, Manipur, Assam, and Rajasthan in preparing Town Planning Schemes and Local Area Plans, while also assisting them in accessing central government funding.

Through its projects and partnerships, CAF contributes to shaping resilient, inclusive, and well-governed cities and regions. Its work supports better planning practices, stronger institutions, and improved outcomes for communities across India and beyond.
What We Do
CAF undertakes research-led advisory and capacity-building assignments across a wide range of urban and regional development domains. Working through eight thematic Centres, CAF provides end-to-end support from policy formulation and strategic planning to implementation guidance and training.
